LONDON (Alliance News) - Hellenic Carriers Limited, an international provider of marine transportation services for dry bulk cargoes, said Monday that one of its subsidiaries has agreed to acquire a second-hand Supramax vessel for USD16.2 million in cash from an unaffiliated third party that it didn't name.
It said that the vessel to be acquired is a 2004 52,388dwt Supramax vessel, built by Japan's Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Corporation.
Hellenic Carriers said the acquisition will be financed from existing cash reserves, as well as one of its existing banking facilities in place following the sale of its older Panamax ships in 2012.
It said the vessel is expected to be delivered during the fourth quarter of 2013.
Hellenic Carriers shares were trading at 31.00 pence Monday morning, down 3.1% or 1.00 pence.
