LONDON (Alliance News) - Manufacturer Oxford Instruments PLC and recruitment firm Hays PLC said Monday that Alan Thomson, who chaired both companies, had died after the rapid deterioration of a medical condition.
Hays have said that Andrew Martin, a senior independent director at the company, will act as non-executive chairman on an interim basis while a permanent successor is sought.
At Oxford Instruments, Thomson will be succeeded by Senior Independent Director Stephen Blair, who will serve as interim chairman until a permanent successor is found. Thomson joined Oxford Instruments in September 2016.
The boards of both companies expressed their condolences to Thomson's family.
Shares in Hays were down 1.2% at 193.90 pence on Monday, while shares in Oxford Instruments were down 1.1% at 985.40p.
