LONDON (Alliance News) - Haydale Graphene Industries PLC Monday said it has funded the appointment of Tim Claypole as a new professional chair within Swansea University's Welsh Centre for Printing & Coating.
Claypole is the founder and a director of the Welsh Centre for Printing & Coating, which the London-listed company said was one of the world's leading centres for research and development of printing and coating processes.
The professor, who took the role from the start of July, has been appointed as the Haydale-supported chair in advance manufacture by printing.
Haydale said that it already has links with the Welsh Centre for Printing & Coating and that the new appointment will provide the business with a dedicated ink and coating service capability, to assist the company in developing and commercialising its inks together with on-going research, formulation, and rheology.
Additionally, the University's College of Engineering will appoint a new professor to provide additional leadership capability in the area of functional coatings, the company added.
"I am pleased that we are sponsoring this Chair which is a natural progression of our existing relationship with the Welsh Centre for Printing & Coating. We have already achieved good results with our graphene-based inks and derivatives of it such as the patent applied for pressure sensor," said Chief Executive Ray Gibbs.
"We anticipate that this appointment will assist us in the commercialisation of our graphene enhanced conductive inks as Tim has a worldwide reputation in the ink, printing and coating world," he added.
Haydale shares were down 2.9% to 167.43 pence per share on Monday morning.
