LONDON (Alliance News) - Hansard Global PLC on Thursday announced that it has launched a new insurance company to support its presence in markets such as Latin America.
The new business is called Hansard Worldwide Ltd and will be based in the Bahamas, where it was granted an external insurance licence on Wednesday.
Hansard expects the business to begin trading towards the end of 2018, providing portable investment-linked insurance.
The company said establishing itself in the Bahamas will give the group an "important" regional presence, supporting access to "key" markets.
Chief Executive Gordon Marr said: "The establishment of Hansard Worldwide Ltd represents a new chapter to the 30 year-strong development of the Hansard story and our commitment to clients in all parts of the world."
"To ensure we continue to support our mobile, internationally orientated clients, HWL will be working with high quality international, regulated independent financial advisors. The granting of its licence is the first step in the establishment of the HWL business. We look forward to providing further information as we progress."
Shares were up 0.9% on Thursday at a price of 78.51 each.
