Hammerson confirms talks for possible GBP140 million Silverburn sale

29th Nov 2021 09:22

(Alliance News) - Hammerson PLC on Monday confirmed that it is currently in discussions for a possible sale of the Silverburn shopping centre in Glasgow, with the talks naming a possible price at GBP140 million.

The Silverburn asset is held by the FTSE 250-listed real estate investment trust, in a 50-50 joint venture with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.

Hammerson stressed that there is no certainty that any deal will take place. In August, the company said that the disposal of non-core assets has remained a priority, in order to strengthen its balance sheet and recycle capital for further investments.

Shares in Hammerson were up 4.6% at 31.85 pence on Monday in London, while its Johannesburg shares were 4.1% higher at ZAR6.84.
