Halfords Poaches McDonald's Executive Jill McDonald As New CEO

23rd Mar 2015 07:43

LONDON (Alliance News) - Halfords Group PLC Monday said that McDonald's Corp's current head of UK and Northwest European operations, Jill McDonald, will become the car parts and bicycle retailer's chief executive from May 11, after its current CEO previously resigned after being poached by Tesco PLC.

McDonald currently overseas about 3,300 McDonald's restaurants across seven countries and has been in her current role since 2010. She previously worked at Colgate Palmolive and at British Airways, where she was head of global marketing for a time.

"When the board began the search for a new CEO we were clear that we were looking for an outstanding business leader, particularly someone who had built and nurtured a culture of customer service and colleague engagement in a consumer facing business. So we are delighted to have recruited Jill, who has a strong track record of heading a large, complex, service-led business with great success," Halfords Chairman Dennis Millard said in a statement.

"Halfords is a business and brand that resonates with me and the UK public and I am delighted to be joining the company. Halfords has already made significant progress in delivering its service-led growth strategy and I look forward to joining such a strong team to continue to build on that success," McDonald said.

Halfords had announced in January that current CEO Matt Davies had resigned to become the head of UK and Irish operations at Tesco and would be leaving the company at the end of May.

Halfords will report its preliminary results for the 53 weeks ended April 3 on June 5.
