LONDON (Alliance News) - Wine producer Gusbourne PLC Tuesday said the quality of the grapes was "excellent" in the 2015 harvest which was completed in October, while yield volumes were good.
"The quality of the grapes has been excellent, with optimum levels of natural sugar and acidity, both of which meet our own exacting quality standards. Yield volumes have been good and in line with expectations," the company said, adding that good weather at flowering in June helped to ensure a "good yield of even ripeness".
Gusbourne did say that the onset of harvest was delayed due to below average temperature and sunshine hours in August and September, but that fair weather in October helped the grapes to ripen to the "desired level of maturity".
"The high quality of grapes harvested this year bodes well for 2015 becoming another great vintage for Gusbourne," the company said.
"The exceptional quality of the fruit from the 2015 harvest is very exciting. Despite a somewhat delayed harvest this has been an excellent year at Gusbourne, which will add to our inventories of premium sparkling wine for future sale once the wine has been through our careful production and extended lees ageing processes," Chairman Andrew Weeber said in a statement.
Shares in Gusbourne were trading up 4.2% at 49.50p on Tuesday morning.
