LONDON (Alliance News) - Gulf Marine Services PLC on Monday said that one of its large-class vessels has secured a decommissioning contract, the first such deal won by the company.
The vessel had been contracted to provide well service and maintenance work in the southern part of the North Sea for an unnamed international oil company through to the first quarter of 2016, but the client has now agreed with Gulf Marine that the vessel will shift to provide decommissioning support this summer.
No financial details were revealed on the change to the agreement.
"We have been targeting decommissioning work for some time and are pleased that this new project has now given GMS our first foothold in this area. The fact that we will be moving directly from one type of work to another for the same client also demonstrates the flexibility of our vessels and their value to our clients," said Chief Executive Duncan Anderson.
