(Alliance News) - Guild Esports PLC on Monday said it has signed a three-year sponsorship deal worth GBP3.6 million with a new European fintech company serving esports fans.
The UK-based owner and developer of esports teams which counts former England football captain David Beckham amongst its founding shareholders, said the deal will enable the unnamed sponsor to promote its brand and logo through placement on team jerseys, streaming of game-play provided by Guild and its team players, as well as other marketing initiatives.
Under the terms of the deal, the sponsor will pay a guaranteed annual fee of GBP1.1 million in the first year, GBP1.2 million in the second year and GBP1.3 million in the third year.
Guild Esports noted this is the first major sponsorship deal agreed since its listing on the main market of the London Stock Exchange earlier in October, adding that the name of the sponsor will be revealed on November 22 at a global event.
"We are delighted to announce our first major sponsorship deal which will generate significant revenues for the company. The rapidly growing mass popularity of esports is attracting considerable interest from advertisers and consumer brands, which has generated a strong pipeline of potential business for Guild. We look forward to working closely with our maiden sponsor to introduce their brand to our fans," said Executive Chair Carleton Curtis.
Shares in Guild Esports were trading 0.8% higher at 7.30 pence each on Monday morning in London.
