Gresham House Energy Storage hits one gigawatt capacity milestone

8th Aug 2025 18:15

(Alliance News) - Gresham House Energy Storage Fund PLC on Friday said it has reached one gigawatt of operational capacity in its battery energy storage system projects.

The London-based fund investing in utility-scale battery energy storage systems said it has also completed the construction of the 1,072 megawatt portfolio.

It said West Bradford, the second largest project in the portfolio with 87 megawatts, was energised on Thursday.

In late July, the 40 megawatt Shilton Lane site near Glasgow was energised.

The company said it is the first in the UK to reach 1 gigawatt of operational battery energy storage systems.

"We are delighted to have completed construction of the portfolio and passed the 1 gigawatt mark of operational capacity. We now look to carry forward this momentum into the rest of the year and focus on building the next phase of augmentations and new pipeline projects," said Fund Manager Ben Guest.

Shares in Gresham House Energy Storage Fund closed up 0.6% at 79.50 pence in London on Friday.
