GreenRoc hires GEUS' Stefan Bernstein as chief executive

1st Jun 2022 14:02

(Alliance News) - GreenRoc Mining PLC on Wednesday appointed Stefan Bernstein as its new chief executive, effective from July 1.

Bernstein is succeeding Kirk Adams as CEO. Adams resigned from GreenRoc early May and Executive Director Lars Brunner took over the role as interim CEO whilst the company looked to appoint a long-term successor.

The company, which is focused on the development of mineral projects in Greenland, said Bernstein joins from Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland. Since 2016, he held the position of head of the Mapping & Mineral Resources department. In this capacity, Bernstein "focused on developing Greenland's known geology through integrated programmes in collaboration with the Ministry of Mineral Resources in Greenland. "

Prior to working at GEUS, Bernstein was CEO at Avannaa Resources Ltd, a Greenland-focused mineral exploration company which he co-founded in 2007.

Non-Executive Chair George Frangeskides said: "I am delighted to welcome Stefan to the GreenRoc Board as our CEO. With a comprehensive understanding of the country's geological landscape, proven by his many discovery successes, and his formidable knowledge of Greenland's mining sector, he is ideally equipped to drive our company forward to the attainment of our goal of achieving production from our flagship assets, Amitsoq and TBS."

Shares in GreenRoc were down 0.6% to 6.01 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
