LONDON (Alliance News) - Greene King PLC Wednesday said its chief financial officer is to step down owing to ill health and has poached the finance director of rival JD Wetherspoon PLC to replace him.
Greene King said Matthew Fearn has decided to step down as CFO and as a director of the company in order to focus on his health. Fearn has been absent from his role since February suffering from a long-term illness.
He will be replaced by Kirk Davis, currently the finance director at rival JD Wetherspoon. Davis has been the finance director at the pub company since March 2011 and has worked for Tesco PLC and Marks & Spencer Group PLC.
"We are very sorry to see Matthew step down, particularly in these very sad circumstances," said Rooney Anand, Chief Executive Officer of Greene King.
"At the same time, I am pleased to welcome Kirk to the company. He has extensive and relevant financial experience, both in consumer retail and more recently in the pub sector. The board and I want to welcome him to Greene King and look forward to working with him."
Wetherspoon confirmed the move and said it is in the process of identifying a successor.
