(Alliance News) - Greatland Gold PLC said Tuesday it has started its first drilling campaign at the Black Hills gold project in the Paterson region of Australia.
The drilling programme includes 20 reverse circulation drill holes to depths of up to 300 metres for 6,000 metres of total drilling.
The programme has been designed to test an induced polarisation chargeability anomaly, which is around 1,400 metres in length and coincident with gold mineralisation identified at surface.
At the end of May, Greatland Gold's induced polarisation survey results extended the strike length of the chargeability anomaly by 400 metres.
"We are excited to have commenced Greatland's first drilling campaign at Black Hills. Following encouraging field and geophysical work, the team believes that Black Hills, which sits adjacent to our Havieron licence and has displayed potential for near-surface gold mineralisation, could become Greatland's second significant project in the highly prospective Paterson region," said Chief Executive Officer Gervaise Heddle.
Shares in the precious and base metals exploration company were up 1.9% at 1.815 pence on Tuesday.
