Great Western Mining "welcomes" evidence of high precious metal grades

13th Nov 2024 15:58

(Alliance News) - Great Western Mining Corp PLC on Wednesday celebrated "positive" results from soil and grab sampling at its West Huntoon porphyry copper prospect.

Great Western Mining is a Nevada-focused gold, silver and copper explorer. West Huntoon is located in the northwest of the Huntoon Valley in Mineral County, Nevada.

Following sampling, the anomalous copper zone has now been expanded from two kilometres-square, to over three kilometres-square.

Infill soils in the highest-grade area confirm previous results, with values of 954 and 571 parts per million of copper.

Additionally, a selective grab sample taken from an outcropping vein returned what Great Western Mining called "very high values", including 16.17 grams per tonne of gold, 207 grams per tonne of silver, and nearly 2.4% copper.

"This season's field work has significantly increased the area of the copper anomaly at West Huntoon which is now the largest and highest-grade copper-in-soils anomaly in the wider Huntoon Copper Project," said Chair Brian Hall.

"Further evidence of vein-hosted high precious metal grades is also welcome news. We have drill-ready prospects at West Huntoon and the novated Huntoon Mine Cooperation Agreement signed earlier this year will facilitate drilling at the centre of the West Huntoon target in the near-term. West Huntoon represents potential for a rapid upgrade of our copper portfolio."

Shares in Great Western Mining Corp were trading 7.4% higher at 0.029 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
