Grafton Reinstates Suspended Second Interim Dividend For 2019

20th Jan 2021 09:52

(Alliance News) - Grafton Group PLC on Wednesday announced it will reinstate its second interim dividend payment for 2019.

The Dublin-based building materials distributor and DIY retailer said the 12.5 pence dividend that was due to be paid last April, worth GBP30 million in total, will now be paid on February 19.

The 12.5p second interim payout, which replaced a final dividend for 2019, takes that year's total to 19.0p, up 6% from 18.0p the year before.

Back in August, Grafton also had decided not to pay a dividend for the first half of 2020 compared to the 6.5 pence per share payout made the year before. At the time, it said it was considering whether it would pay the suspended second interim dividend for 2019 and a full payout for 2020 due to the virus's effect on trading.

Payment had been suspended as a precautionary measure to preserve liquidity in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Shares in Grafton were up 1.6% at 924.72p in London on Wednesday.
