GoldStone Resources Discovers Visible Gold In Southern Ghana

2nd Aug 2018 12:48

LONDON (Alliance News) - West Africa-focused gold developer GoldStone Resources Ltd said Thursday it has discovered visible gold as a result of its drilling in the Ashanti region of southern Ghana.

The gold has been uncovered at the Akrokeri underground mine and the Homase open pit in Ashanti, Ghana.

GoldStone are currently trying to fast-track the development of a project in this region, the Akrokeri-Homase gold project, with the intention of bringing it back into production within two years.

GoldStone Chief Executive Officer Emma Priestly said that this find "reinforces our confidence in the wider mineralised potential of the project, which is located just 8km along strike from one of the world's major goldmines, the Obuasi gold mine, which has a total gold endowment in excess of 70 million ounces of gold."

The close proximity of the Homase/Akrokeri project area to the modern mining town of Obuasi will simplify the sourcing of the required exploration and mining skills as well as the equipment needed to advance this exploration property, GoldStone noted.

Shares in GoldStone were up 14% at 1.89 pence each on Thursday.
