LONDON (Alliance News) - Goldstone Resources Ltd on Thursday said it has completed the Norton Shaft at its Akrokeri Mine in Ghana.
The shaft was drilled to its target depth of 33 metres and will work alongside the pre-existing North Shaft of the mine to access Akrokeri's old workings.
The gold exploration company has gained access to other old workings at the site, and the former operator's workings indicate more extensive mineralisation than previously thought.
"These recent developments will support the future evaluation of the historic underground workings of the Akrokeri Mine," said Goldstone Chief Executive Emma Priestley.
We are looking forward to continuing our geological evaluation and extracting samples for test work. We are currently working hard in Ghana to progress both the scoping study for the proposed pits on the Homase Trend and related test work, and I look forward to keeping shareholders updated on our progress," Priestley added.
Shares in Goldstone closed up 2.2% at 1.38 pence on Thursday.
