LONDON (Alliance News) - Goals Soccer Centres PLC on Friday said it has appointed Nick Basing to its board as deputy chairman, with plan for him to become chairman after the company's annual general meeting in May 2016.
Basing's appointment at the company, which operates five-a-side football centres in the UK and which recently opened a centre in Los Angeles, comes after the group issued a profit warning earlier this months due to a slower-than-expected recovery in trading in the second half, and after Sports Direct International PLC, the FTSE 100-listed sporting goods retailer, bought a stake in the company.
"Nick has a proven track record of managing and operating successful leisure companies and I look forward to working closely with him to ensure a smooth transition," said current Chairman Keith Edelman.
Shares in Goals Soccer Centres were untraded early Friday, having last traded at 165.40 pence.
