Globo Awarded Mobile Project By Greek Ministry Department

11th Sep 2014 08:20

LONDON (Alliance News) - Globo PLC said Thursday that it has been awarded a EUR7.5 million contract to supply mobile technology and services to the Greek Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection.

The enterprise mobility management solutions and software as a service provider said that it won the contract in partnership with its 49% owned associate Globo Technologies S.A. following a competitive tender.

Under the terms of the contract, the project will provide police officers in the field with secure mobile access to government systems and information, through secure, "ruggedised" tablets. It will also provide officials with a mobile information system offering applications and tools for road traffic control, accidents, traffic law enforcement and administering fines.

Globo said the project is the largest government mobility project in Greece, in both value and scopea and is set to complete at the end of 2015. The EUR7.5 million project will be financed by European Union structural funds and is a pilot project for potential deployment by other European governments in the future, said the company.

Globo's GO!Enterprise technology will underpin the implementation of the project and the company will receive at least 60% of the project contract value through the direct sale of licences, application development services and consulting, it said.

The Greek Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection is the government department responsible for Greece's public security services.

"This project will enable Globo to gain substantial experience in the law enforcement and homeland security markets, helping us to pursue similar international projects in the future," said Globo Chief Executive Costis Papadimitrakopoulos.

Globo shares were Thursday trading 1.52% higher at 50.00 pence per share.
