(Alliance News) - Genus PLC on Monday said it has appointed former Tate & Lyle PLC chief executive Iain Ferguson as independent non-executive director and chair designate with effect from July 1.
Ferguson will succeed Bob Lawson as chair at the conclusion of the company's next annual general meeting in November, the animal genetics company added.
Shares in Genus were down 2.0% at 3,480.01 pence each in London on Monday morning.
"Iain brings extensive board and governance experience relevant to Genus, as well as strong commercial, science and agribusiness expertise across a range of industries, with a particular focus on consumer goods and food," Basingstoke, England-based Genus explained.
Currently, Ferguson serves as chair of Crest Nicholson Holdings PLC and a non-executive director of Personal Assets Trust PLC, and was previously the senior independent director of the animal genetics company Sygen International PLC until 2006, when it was acquired by Genus.
Ferguson joined consumer goods company Unilever PLC in 1977 and built his career in a variety of roles before joining Tate & Lyle PLC as chief executive in 2003 and leaving the food ingredients maker in 2009, Genus said.
