(Alliance News) - Genedrive PLC on Friday said a study has showed its HCV-ID test kit is effective in diagnosing Hepatitis C.
The Manchester, England-based molecular diagnostics firm said the independent study, evaluating the real-world performance of the HCV -ID Kit in low and middle income countries, highlighted a test fail rate of just 1.6%.
The study, conducted in Georgia and Cameroon, proved the "ability of the kit to identify all major Hepatitis C genotypes", Genedrive said.
"While the performance results are as expected and excellent, it is equally gratifying to see these achieved with operators with no previous experience in molecular testing," Chief Executive Officer David Budd said.
"This study is an excellent demonstration of real world performance and the ability of Genedrive to contribute to fighting Hepatitis C in resource limited settings."
The Genedrive HCV -ID kit allows for the testing of Hepatitis C outside of hospitals, providing results within 90 minutes.
Shares in Genedrive were down 1.9% at 69.15 pence each in London on Friday.
