Genedrive Makes First Shipments Of SARS-CoV-2 Test Kits To US

17th Feb 2021 09:32

(Alliance News) - Genedrive PLC on Wednesday announced the first shipments of its Genedrive 96 SARS-CoV-2 test kits to the US.

The Manchester, England-based molecular diagnostics firm said the shipments follow the completion of its commercial and technical training with the Beckman Coulter Life Sciences sales representatives.

Shares in Genedrive were up 14% at 148.70 pence each in London on Wednesday.

Genedrive and Beckman Coulter entered into a pact with Beckman in January for the distribution of the 96 SARS-CoV-2 kit, enabling Beckman to sell the kits in the US and Europe.

The firm said the shipments will allow Beckman to begin initial sales activities and prepare the market for wider commercial rollout, coinciding with the formal launch of the Genedrive 96 SARS-CoV-2 Kit by Beckman on Wednesday.

"This is an important milestone for Genedrive as the first shipments of our Genedrive 96 SAR-CoV-2 kit are exported to the US. We are very optimistic about the US market for Covid PCR testing and it has market drivers that are favourable to the adoption of the Genedrive assay: efficiency, ease of use, automation friendly, and scalability," said Chief Executive David Budd.
