LONDON (Alliance News) - GB Group PLC said Thursday it has launched its citizen identity verification service CitizenSafe as part of the UK government's GOV.UK Verify service.
The identity data products and services company said its CitizenSafe product will reduce the time taken for the initial verification process on the GOV.UK Verify service to around 10 minutes, handling multiple data providers and sources, including credit data, to maximise match rates.
The UK government's GOV.UK Verify, which went live on Thursday as part of a beta test, enables UK citizens to prove who they are online to give them access to government services, such as filing tax returns, managing pensions and sharing driving licence details.
GB added, as well as operating as a standalone platform on the service, it was powering the Royal Mail's identity assurance service.
GB said there are six organisations currently live on the service. The combined initial value of the contracts to all GOV.UK Verify partners is GBP150.0 million, but GB said it expects this to rise over the next five years.
The full launch of GOV.UK Verify is expected to be in April.
"We are delighted that UK citizens can now benefit from our CitizenSafe verification service. We are confident this will help transform the way in which UK citizens access government services, making them as easy to use as online banking," said Chief Executive Richard Law.
Shares in GB were up 1.6% at 255.00 pence on Thursday.
