Games Workshop Profit Higher But Revenue Takes Hit From Weak Euro

28th Jul 2015 09:16

LONDON (Alliance News) - Games Workshop Group PLC on Tuesday said its pretax profit for its last financial year rose thanks to one-off costs it booked last year not recurring, while revenue fell on the back of the weak euro and tough trading conditions in Europe.

The company, which is responsible for the Warhammer miniature wargame series, said its pretax profit for the year to the end of May was GBP16.6 million, up from GBP12.4 million a year earlier primarily due to the GBP4.5 million exceptional cost the company booked in 2014 related to the restructuring of its European operations.

Revenue fell to GBP119.1 million from GBP123.5 million, dragged lower by the weak euro. At constant currencies, revenue only declined very slightly to GBP123.1 million.

The group's revenue also was pulled lower by weaker trading in its own stores, thanks to continued difficult conditions in European markets.

The company said it will pay a final dividend of 16 pence per share, bringing its total payout to 36 pence per share. It did not pay a final dividend last year, but paid out a total of 16 pence over the year.

Games Workshop shares were up 4.3% to 550.90 pence on Tuesday.
