Games Workshop Interim Revenue And Profit Rise, Confident On Outlook

LONDON (Alliance News) - Games Workshop Group PLC on Tuesday reported an increase in its half-year revenue and profit and said that it looks forward to "exciting times".

For the six months to December 2, the creator of Warhammer game posted pretax profit of GBP40.8 million, up from GBP38.1 million a year prior.

Revenue increased 14% to GBP125.2 million from GBP109.6 million, with the retail unit contributing to GBP42.3 million, trade GBP60.7 million and online GBP21.2 million.

Chief Executive Officer Kevin Rountree said: "Our business and the Warhammer Hobby continue to be in great shape."

He added: "We have remained true to our long-term strategy, and once again delivered on our promise to produce and sell the best fantasy miniatures in the world, while engaging and inspiring our fans. We continue to strive to make the Warhammer hobby ever better. Exciting times."

The company upped its interim dividend to 65 pence per share, from 61p paid out to shareholders in the comparative period a year ago.

Looking ahead, Games Workshop said that December trading was in line with its first-half performance.

"In the second half, we will continue to focus on our core values and the activities that drive our business forward. We will continue to do the right things, those that will ensure Games Workshop's long term success," Rountree added.

Games Workshop shares were trading up 0.3% at 3,160.00p each.
