LONDON (Alliance News) - Games retailer GAME Digital PLC on Wednesday said its e-sports and events business Multiplay has signed a three-year deal with the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham to hold the Insomnia event.
GAME said the deal with the NEC will provide Multiplay with a significantly larger revenue opportunity than the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, where the Insomnia gaming event has been held previously.
Insomnia56 will be the first Multiply event taking place in the NEC, set for December 11-14.
"For over 16 years the team at Multiplay has overseen the growth of Insomnia from a small, local gaming event into the UK's largest gaming festival," said Martyn Gibbs, GAME Digital's chief executive.
"I am excited by the potential for Insomnia and the move to the NEC marks an important next step in its growth, as we look to expand the brand in the UK and internationally," Gibbs added.
Shares in GAME were up 1.5% to 255.90 pence on Wednesday.
