Gama Aviation Reappointed For Airworthiness Review Contract

26th May 2020 15:56

(Alliance News) - Gama Aviation PLC on Tuesday said it, together with Atkins, has been reappointed to continue delivering military airworthiness reviews to the UK air force's HQ Air Command and the British Army's Joint Helicopter Command.

Shares in Gama were up 14% at 48.94 pence in London on Tuesday.

Airworthiness regulations were issued by the Military Aviation Authority in 2013, requiring all aircraft on the UK Military Aircraft Register to be assessed by an independent organisation to ensure they are safe, airworthy and fit for development.

The reappointment means Gama and Atkins will continue the work they have been undertaking for the Ministry of Defence since 2014. The contract will see the team deliver airworthiness reviews for the next three years for HQ Air, and five years for JHC.

"I believe that this re-award, in the face of strong competition, is testament to the value that Gama Aviation and Atkins are delivering to our client," said Scott McVicar, managing director for Europe Ground at Gama Aviation.
