LONDON (Alliance News) - Distribution firm Bunzl PLC has appointed Galliford Try PLC Chair Peter Ventress to the same role at Bunzl, it announced on Monday.
Ventress has been appointed as a non-executive director and chair-designate at FTSE 100-listed Bunzl, joining at the start of June.
He will replace Philip Rogerson, who will be stepping down as chair at Bunzl's annual general meeting in April 2020.
Ventress is a former chief executive of Berendsen PLC, leaving the role in 2016, and has held "several" other senior executive roles, Bunzl noted. Formerly London listed Berendsen was bought by France's Elis SA for GBP2.20 billion in 2017.
Rogerson commented: "I am very pleased to welcome Peter as my successor and future chair of Bunzl.
"With many years of relevant commercial and board experience, I am confident he will successfully lead Bunzl through the next phase of its long history and create further sustainable value for the benefit of stakeholders as we continue to grow and develop the business."
Bunzl shares were 1.2% higher in early trading on Tuesday in London at 2,115.00 pence each.
Galliford Try shares were 6.2% higher, having announced early Tuesday it had rejected an offer by Bovis Homes Group PLC for two of its business units.
