Galliford Try Wins GBP54 Million Contract With Scottish Prison Service

11th Mar 2020 08:05

(Alliance News) - Galliford Try Holdings PLC on Wednesday said it has secured a GBP54 million contract with the Scottish Prison Service to build a new women's facility.

The FTSE 250-listed construction company said its Scottish business Morrison Construction will redevelop the existing facility in two phases of demolition and new build.

Morrison Construction will build two residential blocks and a separate assessment centre. Additionally, a hub with vocational and educational facilities, a medical centre and a laundry will be built alongside a family and visitor area as well as an administrative building.

The second phase will see the business build a retreat and multi-faith area, an animal welfare and grounds maintenance building, a 126-space car park with electric vehicle charging ports, and security fencing.

"We are delighted to have secured this opportunity in the key custodial sector where we have a growing reputation for building high-quality facilities across the UK. Morrison Construction continues to lead the way as contractor of choice for the public sector in Scotland and remains pivotal to delivering our strategy for the business," said Galliford Try Chief Executive Bill Hocking.

The stock was untraded early Wednesday in London, last quoted at 132.70 pence each
