LONDON (Alliance News) - FTSE 250-listed construction and housebuilding company Galliford Try PLC on Tuesday said it has signed a deal with Birmingham City University to build the GBP46 million Conservatoire building in central Birmingham.
Galliford said the new building will move the Conservatoire from its current base to the Eastside part of the city centre, adjacent to the university's Parkside building.
The building will include teaching facilities and a 500-seat auditorium, plus two further performance spaces.
"We are delighted to be involved in such a high-profile and significant project for both Birmingham and the surrounding area. We look forward to working with Birmingham City University and the design team to produce a world-class musical facility for both the students and the wider community," said Greg Fitzgerald, Galliford's executive chairman.
