Galliford Try lands major contract with public utility Scottish Water

7th Jul 2021 12:44

(Alliance News) - Galliford Try Holdings PLC on Wednesday announced that its Environment business has successfully secured a place on a "major environment framework" with Scottish Water worth GBP350 million.

Scottish Water, which is Scotland's publicly owned water supplier, has appointed the London-based construction firm to the second lot of its "delivery vehicle 2" programme, covering planned civil engineering projects including pipe laying, drainage and capital maintenance of its assets.

The framework is worth up to GBP350 million over six years, with an extension option of up to six years.

The programme delivery vehicle programme will see Scottish Water spend around GBP1 billion a year "on thousands of miles of water pipes, sewer networks, treatment works and other assets", the utility said on Monday.

"This success represents our latest strategic win as we build on our capability of water asset optimisation. We look forward to continuing our strong working relationship with Scottish Water to efficiently deliver the facilities deserved by their communities, and further showcasing our position as a leading contractor of sustainable and value-adding solutions to the sector," said Galliford Chief Executive Bill Hocking.

Galliford shares were up 0.3% at 142.99 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
