Galliford Try Given GBP35M Prison Construction Contract

LONDON (Alliance News) - Galliford Try PLC Monday said that it has been given a GBP35 million contract to build the second phase of the HM Prison & Young Offenders' Institution Park in Bridgend, in South Wales.

The housebuilding-and-construction group said that its building business was appointed by Bridgend Custodial Service Limited, in co-operation with G4S Care and Justice Services UK Limited and the UK Ministry of Justice, to build a new house block, containing 216 cells that will accommodate 387 prisoners.

Under the terms of the contract, it will also build a new two-storey industrial workshop and education building, a visitor centre, and a gatehouse, as well as new 350-space car park, extended perimeter walls and security fencing.

Galliford share were trading at 1,021.00 pence per share Monday morning, down 1.00p.
