Galliford Try Building Unit Wins Two Contracts With UK Universities

17th Mar 2020 09:49

(Alliance News) - Galliford Try Holdings PLC on Tuesday said it has secured contracts worth GBP65 million and a major framework place in the education sector.

The FTSE 250-listed construction company said its Building unit has signed a GBP38 million contract with Northumberland County Council to build a new education campus in Hexham for the Hadrian Learning Trust.

The project will co-locate Hexham Middle School and Queen Elizabeth High School on the existing high school site, including the creation of new sports facilities, open to the community.

Meanwhile, in the West Midlands, the Building business has signed a GBP27 million contract with University of Birmingham to build University of Birmingham: Exchange at 3 Centenary Square, in the heart of the city. The project will see the transformation of the former Municipal Bank building into spaces for research and public engagement.

In addition, Uxbridge-based Galliford Try said it has secured a place on the University of Birmingham's Main Contractor Construction Framework, which is set to run for the next 10 years, carrying an estimated pipeline value of GBP700 million over the period.

"We continue to make good progress in our key sectors and these excellent contract wins in the higher education and schools sectors are further demonstration of the quality of our offering," said Chief Executive Bill Hocking.

Galliford Try shares were trading 6.6% lower in London on Tuesday at 109.68 pence each.
