Galantas Challenged Over Planning Consent For Mine In Northern Ireland

4th Mar 2016 15:14

LONDON (Alliance News) - Galantas Gold Corp Friday confirmed its suspicions that it may face legal challenges against the planning consent granted to the company for its underground mine in Northern Ireland after it said a judicial review has been launched.

Galantas had already said back in October that there was the potential for legal challenges to be made against the planning consent that was awarded by the Department of Environment Northern Ireland for the company's underground mine near Omagh in County Tyrone.

A unnamed third party has now challenged the planning consent through the Belfast High Court. A review will now be heard between September 27 and 29 this year.

"The review should remove any dispute regarding the status of the planning consent. I am unable to make further comment regarding the review as it is before the court," said President and Chief Executive Roland Phelps.

"Exploration drilling continues at the Omagh site and additional results are expected in the near term," he added.

Galantas shares were down 9.1% to 3.75 pence per share on Friday afternoon.
