Future annual results to meet market expectations amid soft markets

25th Sep 2025 09:19

(Alliance News) - Future PLC on Thursday said it expects to meet market expectations for annual adjusted operating profit, amid domestic and international growth in direct digital advertising.

Shares in the the Bath, England-based online magazine publisher and owner of price comparison website Go Compare edged up 0.5% to 687.08 pence on Thursday morning in London.

Future said company-compiled market consensus for adjusted operating profit in the financial year ending September 30 is GBP205.6 million, with a range of GBP197.0 million to GBP207.9 million. This would be down 7.5% from adjusted operating profit of GBP222.2 million in financial 2024.

Future "remains on track" to hit this profit mark, with organic revenue in the period trading "broadly as anticipated".

Market forecasts for revenue cited by the company are GBP743.2 million, with a range of GBP732.0 million to GBP771.9 million. This would be down 5.7% from GBP788.2 million the year before.

The company said B2C direct digital advertising grew in both the UK and the US, despite volatility and a "challenging market backdrop". It reported continued softness in Programmatic Advertising, but with an improved second-half performance.

Future said eCommerce affiliated revenues fell in the second half, as expected, with the segment hit by lower audience. It added that Magazines revenue was resilient.

Go.Compare's performance was hurt by a slow-down in the car insurance market, coupled with a weaker home insurance market. However, it noted improved conversion tied to a more efficient platform, with this partially offsetting the softness.

Future added that B2B softness has persisted, but reported an improved trend in the second half of the financial year.

"Alongside good strategic progress, the group continues to maintain its strong financial characteristics of attractive profit margin and good cash generation," said Future.

The company will release it full annual results on December 4.
