LONDON (Alliance News) - Future Medical PLC said that the National Health Service Business Services Authority has confirmed that prescriptions for its erectile dysfunction treatment, MED2002, will be reimbursed by the NHS.
Futura inked a deal with fellow AIM-listed Quantum Pharma PLC earlier this month to make the product available as an unlicensed medicine, or "special", meaning a treatment that is not authorised, but is requested and prescribed for a patient by their doctor.
MED2002 meets this criteria as around 7.5% of erectile dysfunction sufferers cannot be prescribed PDE5 inhibitors, like Viagra, due to contraindications with other medicines they take.
The product is currently in a clinical study, with results expected by the end of the first half of 2016.
