LONDON (Alliance News) - Videogame studio Frontier Developments PLC said Monday its 'Elite Dangerous' title will be available on Facebook Inc's Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset from its consumer launch later this month, on March 28.
Frontier will provide an update for all its existing players, as well as distributing an 'Elite Dangerous Deluxe Edition' via the Oculus Store.
"I'm delighted to officially announce our support for Oculus Rift. Virtual Reality is a technology with significant long term potential. Having support for and distribution by the current two major Virtual Reality players, Oculus and Steam VR / HTC Vive, in place as they start to ship their first consumer headsets in the coming weeks means we are well placed to reinforce Elite Dangerous' position as a leading Virtual Reality experience with the new Virtual Reality audience," said Chief Executive Officer David Braben in a statement.
Shares in the company were up 4.5% Monday morning at 208.90 pence.
