LONDON (Alliance News) - Frontier Developments PLC on Friday said it launched the next major expansion of its Elite Dangerous: Horizons 'The Engineers' game on Thursday, slightly earlier than anticipated, whilst its Planet Coaster game remains on track for release in the final quarter of calendar year 2016.
The video game developer said it has released the Elite Dangerous: Horizons The Engineers game earlier than expected due to a successful Beta period and the product will now have a positive impact on revenue and profitability in the current financial year to May 31.
Frontier Developments said it plans to release the Elite Dangerous: Horizons for Microsoft Corp's Xbox One on June 3.
Frontier Developments added that it released the second Alpha build of Planet Coaster, its second self-published franchise, on schedule on Tuesday. The Alpha 2 build includes terrain deformation and the next iteration of coaster construction, Frontier Developments said, noting that full release of the game remains on track for the final quarter of 2016.
"The six week additional development time before the release of 'The Engineers' has greatly improved the quality of the game overall. Due to the success of the beta, we have managed to release a few days earlier than originally expected," said Chief Executive David Braben.
"Planet Coaster continues to progress well, and we continue to receive highly encouraging feedback. The full release in the final calendar quarter of 2016 will complete our transition to fully self-publishing our own output," Braben added.
Shares in Frontier Developments were untraded on Friday, having last traded at 200.00 pence.
