LONDON (Alliance News) - Videogame developer Frontier Developments PLC said Tuesday that it had signed a three-book deal to create a series of books set in the world of its new 'Elite: Dangerous' game.
'Elite: Dangerous', a sequel to 1984's 'Elite' which Chief Executive David Braben originally co-authored, was funded via a campaign on the crowd-funding website Kickstarter.
Gollancz, part of the Orion Publishing Company, contributed three of the book-related pledges included as part of the fund-raising campaign.
Gollancz funded over GBP13,000, securing the rights to publish three related books. Stephen Deas and Gaving Smith will write 'Elite: Wanted', Simon Spurrier will write 'Elite: Nemorensis' and Gideon Dafoe will write 'Elite: Docking is Difficult'.
The books will go on sale as eBooks in digital stores in May, Frontier said. Collectors hardbacks of the books also will be published for sale along with the retail release of the game later in the year.
Shares in Frontier were trading down 0.5% at 305.00 pence Tuesday afternoon.
