Frontier Developments Begin Roll-Out Of 'Elite: Dangerous' Beta Version

10th Apr 2014 11:48

LONDON (Alliance News) - Videogame developer Frontier Developments PLC said Thursday that it will begin rolling out the Premium Beta version of its upcoming Elite: Dangerous game.

'Elite: Dangerous' is a sequel to 1984's 'Elite' which Chief Executive David Braben originally co-authored, and was funded via a campaign on the crowd-funding website Kickstarter.

The company is rolling out test phases of the game to players and backers in order to develop the game ready for a final release version. The game has already undergone its primary testing, and is now moving on to the second phase.

As of Thursday players will now be able to download a single player combat version of the game. They will be able to practise with this version of the game ahead of the full release of the Premium Beta May 30.

"We have gradually built out the key elements of the game, first locally, with single player combat, then with a few thousand players across the internet," said Chief Executive David Braben in a statement.

Shares in Frontier were trading up 7.7% at 259.50 pence Thursday morning.
