Fresnillo Hires Ex-State Mining Executive Sougarret Larroquete As COO

9th Jan 2019 07:37

LONDON (Alliance News) - Mexican miner Fresnillo PLC on Wednesday announced the appointment of a former executive of Chile's national mining body as its new operations chief.

Andre Sougarret Larroquete is joining following the retirement of former chief operating officer Roberto Diaz, who was COO from 2013.

Sougarret Larroquete's most recent appointment, Fresnillo said, was as executive vice-president at Chile's National Mining Co, or ENAMI.

ENAMI is responsible for the growth of the mining industry in Chile. Before that, he worked at the Teniente division of state miner Codelco.

He has also been general manager of Antofagasta PLC's Centinela and Esperanza mines in Chile, Fresnillo added.

Fresnillo Chief Executive Octavio Alvidrez commented: "I would like to welcome Andre to Fresnillo. He has an outstanding track record and we have no doubt he will provide strong operational leadership as we deliver on the significant potential of Fresnillo, both in terms of its existing portfolio, but also its extensive growth pipeline.

"On behalf of the board, and the whole company, I would like to thank Roberto for the huge contribution he has made to Fresnillo. He will be greatly missed and we wish him every happiness in his retirement."
