Fourth Person Arrested In Connection With TalkTalk Cyber Attack

4th Nov 2015 06:38

LONDON (Alliance News) - A fourth person has been arrested in connection with the cyber attack on telecommunications company TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC, the Metropolitan Police said on Tuesday.

The Met's Cyber Crime Unit arrested a 16-year-old boy from an address in Norwich following a raid on the property on Tuesday evening.

The arrest follows those of three other suspects in the cyber attack. Those suspects were based respectively in Staffordshire, Feltham in west London and in County Antrim in Northern Ireland.

Last week, TalkTalk confirmed the cyber attack, disclosed a fortnight ago, had been smaller than originally anticipated, helping its shares recovering some of the losses suffered in the wake of the hack. It said fewer than 21,000 unique bank account numbers and sort codes had been compromised, along with fewer than 28,000 obscured credit and debit card details.

In addition to the bank account details accessed, TalkTalk said fewer than 15,000 customer dates of birth had been breached, plus fewer than than 1.2 million customer email addresses, names and phone numbers.
