(Alliance News) - Forterra PLC on Tuesday said it will commence a phased restart of its manufacturing operations this week following a suspension in March.
The FTSE 250-listed masonry products firm said that while it had continued to manufacture small volumes of precast concrete products to support essential public sector projects as well as deliver our brick and block products to customers from inventory, guidance to housebuilders permitting a phased reopening of building sites will result in it restarting production this week.
Forterra said it will start production at one of its brick manufacturing facilities and will also restart the production of hollowcore concrete flooring to sell to customers.
Production at two further facilities are expected to recommence in May, however lower inventory levels means that the majority of its manufacturing facilities will not resume operations before summer.
"This move means that we are able to support our housebuilder and merchant customers as they also begin the process of returning to work over the coming days and weeks, ramping up our production as required in response to inventory levels and market demand," said Chief Executive Stephen Harrison.
The stock was trading 1.1% higher at 241.04 pence each on Tuesday morning in London.
