(Alliance News) - J Sainsbury PLC on Thursday said it has hired Lesley Jones as chair of Sainsbury's Bank from, replacing Roger Davis.
In February, outgoing chair Davis announced plans to step down from the role which he held since May 2013.
On Thursday, the FTSE 100-listed supermarket chain said Jones will step into the role on January 31 as it noted she has over 35 years of experience in banking.
Jones is currently a non-executive director of online fashion brand N Brown PLC as well as of merchant bank Close Brothers Group PLC. She was chief credit officer at Royal Bank Of Scotland Group PLC, now NatWest Group PLC, from 2008 and 2014. Prior to that, she was an executive at US bank Citigroup Inc.
"I am delighted to welcome Lesley as chair of the Sainsbury's Bank board. Her extensive experience in banking will be highly valuable to us. On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Roger for his stewardship over the past seven years. He played an important role during the bank's transition to its own flexible banking platform and in driving the bank's integration with Sainsbury's," said J Sainsbury Chair Martin Scicluna.
Shares in J Sainsbury were trading 0.4% lower at 230.36 pence each on Thursday morning in London.
