Former Lesotho Politician Steps Down As Anglo American Non-Executive

6th May 2020 12:05

(Alliance News) - Anglo American PLC said Wednesday that Non-Executive Director Mphu Ramatlapeng has stepped down from his role with immediate effect.

Ramatlapeng has been part of the London and Johannesburg-listed mining group for seven years since 2013.

Ramatlapeng was formerly part of the Lesotho government as minister of Health & Social Welfare from 2007 to 2012. She is currently executive vice president at the Clinton Health Access Initiative for eight years since 2012.

"We are extremely grateful for Mphu's contribution to Anglo American's board discussions over many years. Her championing of women in business and the social benefits of capacity-building through partnership have provided additional insight to our workforce planning and community support programmes," said Chair Stuart Chambers.

Shares in Anglo American were up 1.1% at 1,397.40 pence on Wednesday in London, while its Johannesburg shares were 2.1% higher at ZAR321.22.
