(Alliance News) - Syncona Ltd on Monday said it has appointed the former head of global development and chief medical officer at Bayer Healthcare to its board.
Kemal Malik spent ten years as CMO at Bayer Healthcare, part of Bayer AG, and has been on Bayer's board of management for the past six years. He joins healthcare company Syncona as a non-executive director with immediate effect.
Malik "has 30 years of experience in global pharmaceutical research and development" and is currently also a non-executive director at Boston-based biopharmaceutical company Acceleron Pharma Inc.
Syncona Chair Melanie Gee said: "Kemal brings a wealth of experience in life science innovation and drug development to our board. Developing commercially-viable medicines that will reach patients is a core pillar of our strategy and his expertise will be highly important as we steer the company towards future growth and success."
Shares in Syncona were up 1.1% at 222.37 pence in London on Monday morning.
