LONDON (Alliance News) - Forbidden Technologies PLC on Monday detailed a new product development, a new video codec called Blackbird 9, for which it is in the process of procuring patent protection.
This codec allows for the efficient compression and decompression of videos for storage, transmission and editing, Forbidden said.
Early tests indicate this new codec cuts video data rate by around 20% compared to its predecessor, Blackbird 8, whilst also improving colour accuracy and picture quality.
Blackbird 9 is expected to improve the experience of professional users on the company's cloud video editing platform Forscene.
"Blackbird 9 is a major step in the evolution of Forbidden's Forscene video platform. Its benefits will be felt across the whole cloud video platform, improving the user experience on the professional Forscene editor and reducing the cost of hosting and serving higher resolution videos," said Head of Research and Development Stephen Streater in a statement.
Shares in Forbidden Technologies were up 0.1% at 10.26 pence Monday.
