Flybe To Double Flights Between Newquay, London Gatwick To Help Travel Crisis

7th Feb 2014 13:02

LONDON (Alliance News) - UK-based regional airline Flybe Group PLC said Friday it has doubled the number of flights between Newquay and London Gatwick to help alleviate travel problems in South West England after a key train link was severed during recent storms.

Flybe said it has adjusted its flying programme to free up one of its 118-seat Embraer 195 aircraft and re-scheduled crews to operate it.

By doing so, it said it will double the number of weekday flights it offers between Newquay Cornwall Airport and London Gatwick to six a day, from three, adding 4,500 seats.

It said the service will be in effect from February 12 for an initial two week period, whilst demand for the new schedule is monitored and assessed.

Shares in Flybe were trading 4.5% higher at 118.65 pence per share Friday afternoon.
