LONDON (Alliance News) - Fitch Ratings has affirmed the Long-term Issuer Default Ratings of Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC, Lloyds Banking Group PLC and Santander UK at 'A', with a stable outlooks.
In its analysis, Fitch said the banks are still highly likely to get help from the UK government is they run into problems, but with financial regulators globally now looking to reduce the support they give banks, the three UK banks could face a downgrade if Fitch thinks that potential sovereign support had either weakened relative to its previous assessment or that it could no longer be relied upon.
