FirstGroup Notes More Than 20% Opposition To Four AGM Proposals

25th Jul 2019 18:55

(Alliance News) - FirstGroup PLC on Thursday said four of its annual general meeting resolutions were opposed by more than a fifth of votes.

The transport services firm said its board had noted the opposition and "takes seriously its responsibility to understand shareholders' opinions and will continue to discuss investors' views on these and other matters as part of our ongoing programme of engagement".

The contentious resolutions were the approval of the remuneration report; re-election of directors Imelda Walsh and Jim Winestock; and authorisation of the company to make political donations and incur political expenses.

The company said: "Overall trading in the first quarter has been in line and there is no change to our expectations for the current financial year. The group is focused on delivering the strategy announced on 30 May at pace."

Shares in FirstGroup closed up 2.0% at 114.10 pence on Thursday .
